For the past 13 years, Ellevation Education has served as a vital partner to school districts across the United States. We provide software solutions to over 1,800 districts, supporting the teachers and specialists who work with English Learners. As a rapidly growing organization, we are committed to helping these students reach their highest aspirations. We are currently seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Product Design to lead our design organization and shape the user experience across our entire product suite. This is a remote role, though you will be expected to travel to our Boston office or to company offsites approximately 10 times per year.
Key outcomes
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Product Designers while building capacity through effective recruiting and onboarding.
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to ensure our solutions are user-centric, innovative, and functional.
- Drive the adoption and growth of our design system, Backpack, across all product lines.
- Champion hypothesis-driven discovery and conduct user research to inform product strategy and iterative development.
- Establish design best practices and foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and collaboration.
- Work cross-functionally to define healthy collaboration patterns and deliver high-impact business results.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of professional experience in Product Design.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience managing Product Designers, with a proven track record of growing talent and building inclusive teams.
- Demonstrated success delivering solutions within an Enterprise SaaS environment.
- Strong ability to work in an agile environment, managing trade-offs and delivering product solutions incrementally.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex design decisions to non-design stakeholders.
- Experience conducting user research and usability testing with diverse audiences.
- A curious and experimental mindset, with a readiness to test ideas, learn quickly, and iterate.
- Fluency in English.
