At Babylist, we serve as the trusted partner for millions of growing families. Over the last decade, we have evolved from a simple registry into a comprehensive platform that helps parents make confident decisions and build healthy, happy lives. With over 9 million people using our app, registry, and ecommerce shop annually, we are a leading force in the baby product industry. As a remote-first company with team members across the U.S. and Canada, we value purpose-driven work and the strong relationships we build through our regular in-person gatherings. We are looking for a visionary leader to join us as our Director of Platform Engineering and help us scale the technology that supports our expanding ecosystem.
What you'll be doing
- You will define and communicate a forward-looking platform strategy, creating a roadmap that anticipates the needs of our business as we scale to support tens of millions of users.
- You will champion a world-class developer experience by delivering automated workflows, internal platforms, and tooling that allow our engineering teams to ship code reliably and quickly.
- You will lead our platform and security engineering efforts, evolving our cloud architecture for efficiency and embedding DevSecOps practices into the development lifecycle to protect our users.
What you'll bring
To succeed in this role, you should have 8 to 10 years of experience in platform engineering and security, with at least 4 years spent in a leadership capacity at a high-growth company. You are a strategic thinker who is comfortable making complex build-versus-buy decisions and leading large-scale initiatives. You possess deep technical expertise in modern cloud infrastructure, containerization, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines. You are also a collaborative communicator who can translate technical concepts for diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in English is required, and you should be comfortable working with our tech stack, which includes AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ruby on Rails, React, MySQL, Redis, Snowflake, GitHub Actions, and Datadog.
What you'll get
We offer a competitive base salary range of 190,000 USD to 240,000 USD. Beyond your compensation, you will enjoy a variety of benefits designed to support your well-being and professional growth:
- Remote work flexibility with a stipend to help you set up your home office.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Generous paid time off.
- Flexible working hours to maintain a sustainable work-life balance.
- Dedicated opportunities for professional development.
