We are searching for a strategic Director of People to join our team in a full-time, hybrid capacity based in Kenya. At Busara, we operate as a non-profit research and advisory organization dedicated to applying behavioral science to alleviate poverty. Since our founding in 2013, we have grown into a global leader with over 130 staff members across multiple countries, working to solve complex challenges in fields like health, agriculture, and finance. We are looking for an experienced leader to drive our people strategy, champion operational excellence, and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture that empowers our diverse team to thrive.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive people strategy that aligns with our long-term organizational goals, including managing talent acquisition, retention, and professional development initiatives.
- Oversee the performance management lifecycle and compensation administration to ensure equitable, compliant, and competitive practices across all our international locations.
- Provide mentorship and direct management to our functional team leaders, fostering a culture of accountability and efficiency while serving as a key member of our organizational leadership team.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should possess a strong background in HR, organizational psychology, or talent management. We require the following qualifications:
- At least 7 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior management role overseeing teams of 5 to 10 people.
- A degree in Human Resources or a related field, with a preference for a Master’s degree in organizational management, psychology, or sociology.
- Proven ability to navigate multicultural and multinational work environments, coupled with strong operational skills to standardize processes and leverage technology.
- Solid knowledge of HR regulations in at least one of our operating markets and the agility to adapt to new employment laws as we continue to expand globally.
