At BrewBird, we are dedicated to building a sustainable future for the coffee industry. We are currently developing a sophisticated technology platform designed to scale the 100 billion dollar specialty coffee market, collaborating with premier local and national roasters to deliver high-quality coffee to homes and offices everywhere. Supported by world-class venture funds like Sequoia Capital and a network of dedicated angel investors, our team of builders uses technology to craft elegant solutions to complex real-world problems. We are looking for our first Director of Manufacturing Operations to join us at our headquarters in San Carlos, California, to lead our operational strategy and execution.
Key outcomes
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing manufacturing operations team while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Oversee vendor relationships and identify strategic outsourcing opportunities to ensure performance, cost, and quality standards are consistently met.
- Design and implement scalable operational workflows that bridge the gap between product engineering and manufacturing, including the development of necessary tools and fixtures.
- Drive rigorous quality assurance and compliance initiatives, utilizing methodologies like Six Sigma to ensure product reliability and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor the performance of our brewer fleet in the field, proactively addressing reliability issues and managing service and refurbishment programs to maximize product lifecycle.
- Balance hands-on execution with high-level strategic planning to support our growth as we scale globally.
Requirements
- Executive-level experience in operations management, manufacturing, or supply chain leadership within a hardware-based consumer electronics or electromechanical company.
- Proven experience working within a startup environment.
- Strong background in engineering and complex global supply chain management, including experience with contract manufacturers and certification programs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams from the ground up, set high standards for excellence, and maintain a growth-oriented mindset.
- Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments with a resourceful and open approach.
- Willingness to travel frequently to Asia and work across multiple time zones.
- Fluency in English.
Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is $180,000 to $200,000 USD. In addition to base compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
