At SAR Academy, we believe every student carries a unique spark that deserves to be nurtured through a blend of academic excellence and a warm, supportive environment. Located in Riverdale, New York, our Modern Orthodox day school serves students from nursery through eighth grade, fostering a deep love for both Torah and secular studies. We are looking for a dedicated Director of IT to join our team and help us bridge the gap between innovative technology and our mission of empowering the next generation of learners.
The opportunity
As our Director of IT, you will serve as a senior engineer and a strategic visionary. You will report directly to the Director of Technology, playing a vital role in shaping the digital landscape of our campus. This is a full-time, 12-month position where you will oversee our help desk, manage our hardware and software ecosystems, and lead our infrastructure projects. You will be the bridge between our technical needs and our educational goals, ensuring that our faculty, staff, and students have the tools they need to thrive every single day.
A day in the life
- You will lead the help desk team, assigning tasks and providing hands-on support to ensure our business office and classrooms run without interruption.
- You will oversee our physical and digital infrastructure, which includes managing our network equipment, maintaining our 1:1 iPad and laptop programs, and utilizing Jamf for the deployment of Apple devices.
- You will engage in strategic planning and vendor management, evaluating new technologies, negotiating contracts, and documenting procedures to keep our school at the forefront of educational innovation.
Who you are
You are a seasoned IT professional with at least 5 to 7 years of experience, ideally within an educational setting. You bring a collaborative spirit and a high level of patience, empathy, and energy to your work. You are comfortable working in an on-site environment and are willing to be available for system repairs or implementations that may fall outside of standard business hours.
Your background includes:
- A B.S. or B.A. degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Strong expertise in Google Workspace, the Google Admin Console, and managing Apple environments.
- Proven experience with Jamf or similar MDM solutions.
- A deep understanding of networking protocols and the ability to analyze infrastructure to apply industry best practices.
- Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to interface effectively with teachers, administrators, and external consultants.
Why you'll love it here
We are proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional growth. Working at SAR Academy means becoming part of a community that values intellectual curiosity and critical thinking. You will have the chance to make a tangible impact on the daily lives of our students and staff while working in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
