The opportunity

As our Director of Engineering, you will be a key architect of our team's growth and success. You will lead the development of our consumer-facing SaaS products, partnering closely with our product team to create seamless experiences for our clients. Your role is vital in ensuring the high-quality delivery of features that drive our platform's value. You will be responsible for shaping our team structure, defining career growth paths, and playing an active role in hiring the next generation of talent. This is a chance to influence both the technical direction of our services and the professional development of the engineers who build them.

A day in the life

• You will guide the operational and strategic direction of your engineering team, mentoring members to help them grow both technically and professionally.
• You will collaborate with Product Managers, Sales, and Success teams to translate business requirements into actionable work streams, ensuring we launch high-quality products on schedule.
• You will foster a culture of excellence by teaching and influencing your team to adopt modern engineering practices that enable frequent, reliable service releases.

Who you are

You are an engineer at heart with a deep background in building scalable, reliable, and high-performance consumer applications. You thrive in the fast-paced, informal environment of a startup and have a proven ability to lead distributed teams. Your background includes:

• A degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
• More than 8 years of software development experience, including at least 5 years in a management role and 1 year specifically as a Director.
• Extensive experience with RESTful APIs, Frontend frameworks like React or Svelte, and Cloud technologies such as AWS or GCS.
• Deep hands-on expertise in server-side languages like Java, Python, Go, Scala, or Rust.
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL database platforms, including schema design and query optimization.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluency in English.
