At Composer, we are building the next generation of automated trading tools that put sophisticated AI-driven strategies into the hands of everyday investors. As a venture-backed fintech startup supported by First Round Capital and Left Lane Capital, we combine complex trading algorithms with an intuitive interface to open advanced markets to a wider audience. We are looking for a Director of Engineering who will guide our remote engineering team and help shape the technical foundation of this rapidly growing platform.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, creating an environment where innovation and technical excellence can thrive while keeping projects aligned with business goals.
- Guide the design and delivery of high-performance trading systems, ensuring they meet strict standards for speed, accuracy, and reliability.
- Balance competing priorities across the engineering organization, working closely with product, marketing, and compliance teams to deliver work that supports both company objectives and customer needs.
What you'll bring
- At least five years of hands-on engineering experience, including two or more years in a management or leadership role within a fast-paced startup environment.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills that help bring clarity to shifting demands and limited resources.
- Clear written and verbal communication abilities that support healthy collaboration across teams and functions.
- Practical experience with modern programming languages and frameworks; familiarity with functional programming concepts is a plus.
- Fluency in English.
