At Code.org, we are on a mission to ensure every student in every school has the opportunity to learn computer science. As a leading nonprofit in the K-12 space, we have reached millions of students through our curriculum and the global Hour of Code campaign. We are looking for a passionate leader to join our team and help us expand access to computer science education for young women and underrepresented groups. If you are driven by the goal of making technology education a core part of the student experience, we would love to have you on our team.
What you'll be doing
- You will report to our CTO and lead three engineering teams, overseeing approximately 20 engineers and three engineering managers who build our student and teacher-facing products.
- You will collaborate with our product and curriculum teams to execute our roadmap while balancing technical trade-offs and ensuring high-quality, sustainable software delivery.
- You will mentor and develop our engineering staff, fostering a healthy and inclusive culture while managing hiring, performance, and career growth across your teams.
What you'll bring
To be successful in this role, you should possess a deep commitment to our mission and a proven track record in leadership. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- Extensive experience in people management, specifically as a manager of managers, with a history of delivering high-scale web products.
- Strong technical expertise to provide architectural guidance and mentorship, with preference given to experience in JavaScript, React, Ruby on Rails, SQL, MySQL, and AWS.
- The ability to balance business needs with engineering capacity, ensuring we meet our goals while maintaining excellent site availability.
- A collaborative mindset, as you will serve as a key member of our leadership team to foster a diverse and engaged workplace.
- You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, be able to pass a background check, and be willing to travel at least twice a year for team events.
What you'll get
We provide a competitive salary range of $194,000 - $216,000 USD. In addition to your compensation, you will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional growth:
- Flexible work arrangements, including remote and hybrid options.
- Full coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums for you and your dependents.
- Generous paid time off, including three weeks of vacation, sick leave, and a two-week office closure during the winter holidays.
- An annual stipend for your professional development.
- The chance to participate in our 403b retirement plan.
- A technology subsidy to support our bring-your-own-device environment.
