What you bring

We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to join us on a part-time basis in the United Kingdom. In this hybrid role, you will lead, nurture, and scale high-performing teams while ensuring our technology directly solves customer problems and drives business outcomes. You will report to our London-based CTO and collaborate with a global leadership team to navigate complex system migrations and team transformations. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Removing operational roadblocks and implementing lean, efficient processes to keep our squads focused on their goals.
• Mentoring and developing team members to foster their professional growth and career progression.
• Driving technical delivery while maintaining a culture of transparency, collaboration, and engineering excellence.

Requirements

The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical background with over 10 years of experience in designing and engineering large-scale systems, ideally within the fintech or challenger bank space. You should have a proven track record of working in startup environments, scaling teams, and launching successful products. We value leaders who understand the commercial aspects of a business and measure success through tangible business impact. Proficiency in English is required, and you should be comfortable working with our tech stack, which includes TypeScript, React, Python, Java, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, MySQL, Jest, AWS, and Kubernetes.
