Director of Engineering at House Rx

At House Rx, we are on a mission to make specialty medications both affordable and accessible for the patients who need them most. Our team of over 300 people works hard to build the data infrastructure, workflows, and systems that ensure life-saving drugs reach those in need. What is this role?

We are searching for a Director of Engineering to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a high-impact, leadership position requiring at least four years of director-level experience. You will report directly to our VP of Engineering and oversee a team of 18 people, including engineering managers, a staff engineer, and our QA team. We need a hands-on leader who is comfortable reviewing architecture and making tough technical decisions while mentoring our next generation of engineering talent.

• Lead and develop your team by providing consistent coaching, setting high performance standards, and identifying future leaders within the organization.
• Drive technical excellence by providing architectural oversight, ensuring our systems remain scalable and maintainable, and championing best practices in code quality and system design.
• Foster an AI-forward culture by integrating modern AI tools into our development workflows to boost productivity and product capability.

What makes you a great fit?

You are a proactive driver who thrives in fast-paced, product-focused environments. You have a strong background in software engineering and are comfortable navigating complex technical challenges. To succeed here, you should have:

• At least 7 years of software engineering experience, with 3 or more years in management roles.
• Deep technical familiarity with our stack, including Node.js, TypeScript, React, Postgres, and AWS.
• A proven track record of managing managers or leading multiple engineering teams.
• A hands-on approach to using AI tools and a clear vision for how to implement them effectively within a team.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for product partners and executive leadership.
• Fluency in English.
