Director of Engineering at Aspire

The role

We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to join our distributed, remote team on a full-time basis. This is an executive-level position where you will report directly to our CTO. You will lead a talented team of engineers, working closely with product managers and designers to solve complex challenges and shape the future of our platform. Whether you are currently based in the United States or Canada, or are located elsewhere and eligible for visa sponsorship to relocate to Canada, we invite you to help us drive our technical strategy forward.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to develop and improve major features across our platform.
• Cultivate a customer-obsessed culture that prioritizes ownership, trust, and effective collaboration.
• Set a high bar for engineering excellence by establishing best practices, managing scrum processes, and providing consistent feedback to support team growth.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in web application development and product engineering management. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

• At least 3 years of experience in people management, specifically within remote environments at product-centric companies.
• A proven ability to act as both a technical lead and a scrum master to ensure effective decision-making.
• Experience in defining technical strategy, managing technical debt, and aligning engineering roadmaps with broader business requirements.
• A track record of hiring top talent and coaching engineers to reach their full potential.
• Proficiency in English.

Compensation and benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of USD $170,000 to USD $220,000 per year. In addition to our compensation package, we provide a comprehensive suite of benefits to support your health and well-being, including:
