Since 2013, we have reached 20 million patients, and we take pride in our nonprofit model that allows us to reinvest revenue directly back into our mission.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our engineering operations and help us scale our impact. Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, you will serve as a key partner to the Director of Product, allowing our leadership team to focus on executive and partnership goals while you drive technical delivery. You will oversee a talented team of 10 to 15 product engineers, as well as a Data and Infrastructure Engineering Manager. This role is perfect for a product-minded leader who thrives in a fully-distributed environment and is passionate about making the right technical tradeoffs to deliver meaningful outcomes for the patients we serve.
A day in the life
- Lead and mentor a team of senior engineers and managers, fostering a high-performance culture through consistent feedback and professional development.
- Collaborate closely with product and design counterparts to define strategy, set OKRs, and ensure our technical roadmap aligns with our broader organizational goals.
- Facilitate essential team rituals, such as kickoffs and retrospectives, while refining our processes to improve overall team effectiveness and delivery.
Who you are
You are a seasoned engineering leader with at least 6 years of management experience, including at least 3 years spent managing other managers. You possess a deep understanding of product development and have a proven ability to navigate complex technical and business tradeoffs. We value candidates who bring experience in healthcare technology, though we are equally interested in those with a strong desire to learn the industry quickly. You are a clear communicator who excels at building inclusive, distributed teams, and you are comfortable working within our tech stack, which includes Ruby on Rails, React, Postgres, and GCP. A background in TDD environments is a plus, and you should be prepared to travel approximately 5% of the year for company and industry events.
Why you'll love it here
We believe that taking care of our team allows us to better support the communities we serve. We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to help you thrive both personally and professionally:
- Remote work flexibility with a fully distributed team and flexible hours.
- Generous paid time off, including 15 days of PTO, 18 company holidays, half-day Fridays, and a paid 1-month sabbatical every 4 years.
- Robust medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family, plus disability insurance and a 401k plan.
- A $100 yearly wellness budget and access to professional development funds to support your ongoing growth.
- Additional perks like PerkSpot discounts, 9 wellness days, and a strong culture of volunteerism.
