At World View, we are dedicated to inspiring humanity and fostering a deeper respect for our planet through innovative stratospheric exploration. For over six years, we have pioneered advanced balloon technology that provides critical remote sensing capabilities to partners like NASA and NOAA. As we expand our reach into the space tourism and exploration market, we are looking for a visionary Director of Engineering to join our team in Tucson, Arizona, and help guide our next phase of growth.
What you'll be doing
- You will provide high-level technical oversight for all programs, making critical decisions regarding design alternatives and project priorities while leading a multidisciplinary team through the full system development lifecycle.
- You will drive the creation of technology roadmaps, lead the definition and documentation of complex system requirements, and oversee the execution of rapid prototyping and development efforts.
- You will act as the primary technical liaison for our customers and lead rigorous technical reviews, including design and test readiness assessments, to ensure all systems meet our high standards for quality and performance.
What you'll bring
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in engineering and a passion for complex systems. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, with a Master's degree preferred.
- At least 15 years of experience working with large-scale integrated systems, including vehicle, payload, and ground support design.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in technical leadership, where you have successfully mentored teams and managed complex engineering projects.
- Expertise in rapid prototyping, technology maturation, and quality assurance processes.
- Excellent communication skills in English and a proven ability to collaborate across diverse functions to achieve project goals.
