Director of Engineering at Customer.io

Hi, I am Paul, the VP of Engineering at Customer.io. We are currently looking for a talented Director of Engineering to join our remote team. At Customer.io, our mission is to transform how businesses communicate with their users. We provide a comprehensive suite of tools, including our marketing automation platform Journeys, our customer data platform Data Pipelines, and our email coding tool Parcel. By helping marketers utilize real-time behavioral data, we empower them to send messages that are truly impactful and relevant. What you'll be doing

• You will lead and mentor a team of engineering managers and individual contributors, providing the guidance necessary to ensure the successful delivery of projects across the organization.
• You will oversee the architectural integrity, security, and scalability of our solutions, ensuring that our technical strategy remains aligned with both customer needs and our broader business objectives.
• You will foster a culture of empathy, accountability, and inclusivity, while managing departmental budgets to ensure we remain financially sustainable as we innovate.

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in leadership and software development. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• Proven experience leading multiple engineering teams within an early-to-mid-stage SaaS environment.
• Deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, modern software architecture, and the various technologies that power complex SaaS platforms.
• A track record of building high-performing teams, with a specific focus on individual growth and mentorship.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, allowing you to explain complex technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• A highly conscientious nature, meaning you take pride in your work, keep your commitments, and are dedicated to continuous learning.
• The ability to thrive in a dynamic, customer-centric environment where adaptability is key.

What you'll get
