What you bring

We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead our Core Database team in a full-time, remote capacity. You will be responsible for driving the architecture and delivery of our distributed SQL database components while mentoring a growing team of engineers. Your expertise in distributed systems and cloud-native technologies will be vital as we scale our performance and reliability.

• Define and execute the technical roadmap for core database components, including storage engines and transactional layers.
• Lead, recruit, and mentor high-performing engineering teams to foster a culture of technical ownership and continuous improvement.
• Drive projects focused on system scaling, concurrency, and maintaining 99.995% availability in complex, multi-tenant environments.

Requirements

The ideal candidate possesses a deep technical background in database internals and large-scale systems design. You should have over 10 years of software development experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role managing multiple teams. We require hands-on proficiency in C, C++, and Go, along with a proven ability to design and deliver internet-scale distributed systems. Strong communication skills in English are essential, as you will collaborate closely with product management and technical leadership to deliver impactful features. A background in performance tuning and resolving complex bottlenecks in relational or distributed databases is highly valued.

What we offer
