Director of Engineering, Cloud Security at Illumio

We are seeking an accomplished engineering leader to guide the development of a new Cloud product at Illumio. As the pioneer and market leader in Zero Trust segmentation, Illumio protects critical applications and valuable digital assets with segmentation technology purpose-built for the Zero Trust security model. Our solutions help the world’s leading organizations strengthen cyber resiliency and reduce risk across cloud-native applications, hybrid and multi-cloud environments, data centers, and endpoints. In this role you will direct significant product development and delivery efforts spanning Platform, DevOps, back-end systems, and user-interface development, all from our Sunnyvale, California headquarters.

Key outcomes

• Deliver the product roadmap for the new CloudSecure offering and drive it from concept through customer release.
• Build, grow, and develop a high-performing engineering team by partnering with senior technical leads and recruiting top talent.
• Provide cross-functional technical leadership, collaborating with product management and other stakeholders to shape features and release decisions.
• Define and execute a rapid development, release, measurement, and iteration process that advances the product toward feature completeness and high quality.
• Make decisive choices amid ambiguity, balancing business priorities with delivery timelines while remaining accountable for on-time releases.
• Contribute to Illumio’s broader technical leadership community, influencing long-term strategy, business milestones, and resource planning alongside senior executives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• At least ten years of experience planning, designing, developing, and delivering software products.
• At least six years of experience as a people manager in a software-development organization, having guided engineers ranging from new graduates to senior developers.
• Demonstrated success building and shipping a Cloud product, preferably within the Cloud Security domain.
• Proven ability to design intuitive user interfaces and visualizations that simplify complex systems for end users.
• Strong track record of leading engineering organizations, hiring effectively, and enabling high-performing teams.
• Hands-on experience managing agile development processes, with a preference for Scrum methodologies.
• Extensive technical background delivering distributed-systems applications, including RESTful web services, high-scale SaaS solutions, and public-cloud environments.
• Significant experience with public-cloud APIs and services used to secure cloud resources.
• Solid understanding of DevOps practices, continuous integration and delivery pipelines, automated testing, and production telemetry.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to varied audiences.
• Full professional proficiency in English.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $250,000 USD to $300,000 USD. In addition to competitive pay, we offer eligible team members Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, Life and Disability insurance, Paid time off, Equity compensation, and access to Wellness programs.
