The role

We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering for our Cloud Platform to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in the United Kingdom. This is an executive-level position where you will lead the strategic direction and technical evolution of our platform engineering teams. You will be responsible for the environments, networking, and cloud resources that enable our entire engineering organization to deliver exceptional software. We need a leader who balances high-level architectural vision with the willingness to dive into hands-on implementation, ensuring our cloud infrastructure remains robust, scalable, and innovative.

Core responsibilities

• Provide strategic technical leadership for our Cloud Platform teams, overseeing key areas such as Kubernetes, public cloud features across AWS, GCP, and Azure, and database-as-a-service management.
• Guide the lifecycle management of our Kubernetes clusters, prioritizing security, cost-effectiveness, and standardization to meet the needs of our internal engineering customers.
• Mentor and develop our team leads and managers, fostering a culture of psychological safety, continuous improvement, and professional growth across our distributed global teams.

Skills and experience

• Extensive experience in a senior technical leadership role within a cloud or Kubernetes platform environment.
• Deep technical expertise in Kubernetes architectures, cloud infrastructure (AWS plus GCP or Azure), and database technologies such as MongoDB, Clickhouse, or Elasticsearch.
• Proficiency in software development, particularly with Golang, and a strong understanding of modern development practices.
• A comprehensive grasp of the CNCF landscape, with the ability to experiment with emerging technologies and integrate them into our platform strategy.
• Proven success in leading and managing distributed teams across different geographies.
• Excellent communication skills and a servant leadership approach that emphasizes collaboration and inclusivity.
