Imagine a place where every line of code and every cloud deployment helps families stay connected across the miles. At Life360 we build the tools that give millions of people peace of mind, whether they are checking on a teenager’s first drive or making sure a beloved pet is safe at home. Our platform now reaches roughly 66 million monthly users in more than 150 countries, and behind that reach is a growing team of engineers who need cloud resources that feel as effortless as the app itself.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Director of Cloud Experience to turn our AWS environment into a true Cloud-as-a-Service platform. In this role you will shape how every internal engineer discovers, provisions, and operates cloud resources, removing friction so product teams can move faster while we keep costs predictable and compliance effortless. Your work will sit at the intersection of platform engineering, developer advocacy, and strategic finance, guiding both the technology roadmap and the culture that surrounds it.
A day in the life
- Partnering with the Director of Ops and peer engineering leaders to refine a multi-year cloud strategy that balances developer velocity, reliability, and cost efficiency, then translating that strategy into clear quarterly priorities for tooling and platform teams.
- Meeting with internal “customers” across product squads to hear firsthand where our current self-service tools slow them down, then working with your own engineers to ship the next iteration of dashboards, templates, and automation that cut deployment time and reduce repetitive toil.
- Reviewing spend reports, compliance dashboards, and developer-experience metrics in a single weekly review, spotting patterns that point to new investments in tooling or training and presenting those findings to the leadership team.
Who you are
You bring 10–15 years of experience in IT or cloud operations, including at least five years focused on AWS architecture and service management. You have already led teams that built internal platforms or tooling specifically to improve developer productivity, and you can point to measurable gains in deployment speed or reduced cloud spend. You are fluent in the language of both engineers and executives, able to advocate for developer needs while steering budgets and compliance programs. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field supports the technical depth you bring to conversations about architecture and tooling. Above all, you enjoy listening to developers, turning their feedback into roadmaps, and celebrating when a new self-service feature ships that makes someone’s day easier.
Why you'll love it here
The base salary range for this position is $235,000 to $335,000, and final compensation takes into account your background and experience. In addition to that, we offer a comprehensive package that includes 100 percent employer-paid medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, an employee assistance program, generous learning and development budgets, flexible paid time off, and 13 company-wide days off plus a paid winter shutdown. You will also receive a Life360 Platinum membership for your circle and free Tile products, and you will work in a hybrid model that keeps collaboration vibrant while respecting the flexibility our remote-first culture provides.
