We are Farther, a fast-growing registered investment advisor that merges expert financial guidance with advanced technology to provide a truly personalized wealth management experience. Our founders are industry veterans who bring together deep expertise in private wealth, fintech, and software production. We are backed by prominent venture capital firms and are building a collaborative team of entrepreneurs dedicated to helping our clients succeed. We are currently looking for a Director of Backend Engineering to join us in a full-time, hybrid capacity within the United States.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical vision and architectural strategy for our backend platform, ensuring our systems remain scalable, secure, and reliable.
- Direct the development of critical financial infrastructure, including trading systems, portfolio rebalancing tools, and order management services.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers while fostering a culture of excellence and sustainable development.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of professional engineering experience, with a focus on distributed systems and complex backend architecture.
- Between 5 and 10 years of experience in leadership roles, specifically managing technical teams within fast-paced environments.
- Extensive background in building trading platforms or portfolio management systems, including a strong grasp of cloud infrastructure and database design.
- A proven ability to navigate ambiguity, drive decisive action, and communicate effectively across both technical and business departments.
