Are you ready to help us revolutionize the future of farming? At Carbon Robotics, we have developed the world’s first commercial LaserWeeder, a machine that uses advanced robotics, artificial intelligence, and lasers to eliminate weeds with sub-millimeter precision. By removing the need for herbicides, our technology promotes soil health and helps farmers overcome rising costs and labor shortages. We are a mission-driven team backed by major investors, and we are looking for someone who shares our bias for action to help us scale our impact.
What you bring
As our Director of Hardware Engineering, you will lead the charge in evolving our hardware systems to meet the complex needs of modern agriculture. This is a full-time, on-site role based in the United States. You will be a key leader in our engineering department, utilizing your expertise in robotics and hardware design to drive innovation. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Leading our mechanical and electrical engineering teams through the full lifecycle of product development, from initial testing to final release.
- Collaborating across departments with software, manufacturing, and product management teams to ensure our hardware meets strict quality, cost, and performance standards.
- Managing the hardware engineering budget and establishing strong relationships with our network of suppliers and vendors.
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced executive with at least 15 years of hardware engineering experience, including a minimum of 7 years in a leadership capacity. You should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of bringing products from initial design through to assembly line scale, ideally within the ag-tech or automotive sectors. You must be proficient in SolidWorks and have a deep understanding of hardware development processes. We value leaders who are excellent communicators, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and who are fluent in English.
What we offer
We provide a competitive base salary ranging from $200,000 to $250,000 USD. Beyond the financial package, we offer a comprehensive suite of benefits designed to support you and your family, including:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Equity compensation in the form of pre-IPO stock options.
- A 401(k) retirement plan.
- Life insurance and an employee assistance program.
- Commuter benefits to support your travel to our facilities.
