Narvar is on a mission to simplify the everyday lives of consumers by transforming the post-purchase experience. We work with over 1,300 renowned brands, including Nike, Sonos, and Neiman Marcus, to help retailers retain and delight their customers. Having served more than 125 million consumers across 38 countries, we are looking for a Director of Engineering to help us continue this growth. In this role, you will lead the development of our consumer-facing SaaS products, shape our team structure, and foster a culture of innovation and high performance.
Key outcomes
- Lead the operational and directional strategy for your engineering team while mentoring members to support their professional and technical growth.
- Translate complex requirements into actionable workstreams to ensure the efficient design, development, and launch of new product features.
- Inspire your team to adopt modern engineering practices that facilitate the frequent release of high-quality services.
- Partner with our recruiting team to attract, hire, and retain a diverse group of talented engineers.
- Collaborate across departments with Product, Sales, and Success teams to ensure our platform delivers a consistent and powerful user experience.
- Provide production support for customer issues and proactively implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Requirements
- A Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of software development experience with a strong background in engineering.
- At least 5 years of hands-on technical management experience, including the management of other managers.
- Proven success in building and leading high-performance, distributed teams.
- Extensive experience in designing and building scalable, reliable, and highly available consumer-facing applications.
- Deep expertise in RESTful API design and integration.
- Proficiency with frontend technologies such as React, Svelte, and TypeScript.
- Strong experience designing and scaling both relational and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, Postgres, Cassandra, DynamoDB, MongoDB, and Redis.
- Hands-on expertise in server-side languages such as Java, Python, Go, Scala, or Rust, along with experience in cloud technologies like AWS or GCS.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A track record of thriving in fast-paced, flat organizational structures.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience working within a startup environment is strongly preferred.
