Director Data Engineering at XO Health Inc.

XO Health is on a mission to fix the healthcare industry by creating the first health plan designed specifically by and for self-insured employers. We are building a unified experience that benefits patients, providers, and payers alike, and we are looking for a visionary leader to join our diverse, multi-disciplinary team as our Director of Data Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage scalable data pipelines, warehouses, and lakes to handle large volumes of healthcare information.
• Lead the creation and deployment of machine learning and predictive models to improve our pricing, underwriting, and claims operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn complex data insights into clear business strategies that enhance the provider and customer experience.
• Build a world-class data platform that serves the needs of our analytics, product, and engineering departments.
• Oversee data privacy and security, ensuring all solutions meet strict HIPAA standards and industry compliance requirements.
• Manage and mentor a team of engineers and analysts while fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
• Take ownership of project tracking through Jira, including story creation and progress reporting.
• Partner with Quality Engineering to ensure all systems are thoroughly tested and optimized for performance.

Must-haves

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 9 years of experience building big data systems with a focus on processing and storage within the AWS stack.
• At least 7 years of experience in a leadership role managing engineering teams.
• Expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and predictive analytics.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare data standards, including HIPAA and FHIR.
• Proven ability to turn complex business needs into a clear, actionable technical roadmap.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• A hands-on approach and experience thriving in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with data science platforms and machine learning infrastructure.
• Background in managing data governance or regulated data environments.

Benefits

The salary range for this position is ₹4,500,000 to ₹6,000,000 INR, depending on your experience and certifications.
