Are you ready to shape the technology foundation that powers life-saving cancer detection at scale? At Freenome we combine tumor and non-tumor signals with machine learning to spot cancer in its earliest stages through a simple blood draw, and we are looking for a leader who can scale the cloud systems behind that mission.
What you bring
We need a Director of Cloud Infrastructure who will guide our Infrastructure team in supporting early cancer detection tests as well as broader company initiatives. This full-time, remote role calls for a servant-leader with director-level experience who thrives in fast-moving environments and is fluent in Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, and GCP. You will translate business goals into reliable, compliant infrastructure while fostering a collaborative culture that values both innovation and regulatory rigor. The position is open to candidates located anywhere.
- Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for the Infrastructure department, ensuring budgets, resources, and timelines align with company objectives.
- Partner with QA and cross-functional stakeholders to maintain the highest standards of regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
- Build and mentor a high-performing team, guiding talent reviews, performance management, and recruitment to keep pace with rapid growth.
Requirements
You bring at least five years of engineering leadership experience and three or more years hands-on with cloud infrastructure, including proven success deploying multi-cloud environments and managing Kubernetes at scale. A bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field-or equivalent practical experience-is required, along with deep expertise in infrastructure-as-code, automation, networking, security, and Site Reliability Engineering practices. Strong verbal and written communication skills, comfort navigating ambiguity, and a track record of structuring teams for execution are essential. Experience in biotechnology, regulated software, or startup settings is a plus, as is familiarity with medical-device development or large-scale biological data.
What we offer
For this position we target a base salary between $197,000 and $304,000. In addition to competitive pay, we provide remote work flexibility, equity compensation, and comprehensive medical insurance.
