DevOps Engineer at Rackspace

We are searching for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Private Cloud Software Engineering Automation Software Operations team at Rackspace Technology. In this role, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of cutting-edge applications that provide innovative solutions for our customers. You will focus on building robust, scalable, and cloud-native systems while ensuring our deployment processes remain efficient and reliable. This is a full-time, remote position that offers the opportunity to work independently on complex challenges and act as a subject matter expert within our organization.

Key outcomes

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain system performance to ensure high availability for our customers.
• Improve our build, packaging, and deployment processes through continuous optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our infrastructure and customer applications function in harmony.
• Analyze system logs and metrics to proactively identify issues and enhance overall reliability.
• Document operational configurations and best practices to drive efficiency across the team.
• Mentor colleagues and provide guidance on DevOps activities to foster a culture of technical excellence.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies or tools to improve our operational stack.

Requirements

• Five to seven years of professional experience as a DevOps Engineer.
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, though relevant experience may be considered as a substitute.
• Strong proficiency in CI/CD practices and automation tools.
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies, specifically Docker and Kubernetes.
• Expertise in configuration management using tools like Ansible.
• Proven ability to work with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Solid experience managing Linux environments and working with cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python for automation tasks.
• Strong command of Git for version control.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to maintain clear operational documentation.

Preferred qualifications

• Practical knowledge of Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
• Experience setting up and managing monitoring solutions such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Familiarity with Windows infrastructure and database administration.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including firewalls and load balancers.
