We are looking for a dedicated DevOps Engineer I to join our team in India. At Sigmoid, we focus on building highly scalable and available data pipelines that serve as the foundation for collecting, modeling, and analyzing massive datasets. In this role, you will report directly to our DevOps Architect and play a vital part in supporting our clients, which include leading Fortune 500 companies. Key outcomes
- Collaborate with clients at the VP and Director level to understand their strategic needs and align our technical solutions with their business goals.
- Design, deploy, and manage fault-tolerant distributed components using advanced big data technologies.
- Drive engineering excellence by implementing industry-leading CI/CD pipelines, monitoring practices, and automation scripts to reduce manual effort.
- Provide operational support for large-scale data pipelines, including performing root cause analysis for production issues and assisting developers with daily tasks.
- Offer technical leadership by guiding team members, conducting training sessions, and participating in the recruitment of new technical talent.
- Maintain an entrepreneurial approach, acting as both a hands-on contributor and a strategic thinker who can solve problems in unconventional ways.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, combined with 2 to 4 years of relevant professional experience.
- Proven experience in building and shipping large-scale engineering products, with a strong preference for candidates familiar with cloud infrastructure like AWS.
- Proficiency in Linux system management and the use of build and release tools such as Jenkins.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Shell, or similar languages.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively alongside diverse teams of engineers, data scientists, and product managers.
- A high level of energy and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced start-up culture.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience providing support within the Big Data domain.
- Demonstrated ability to architect, implement, and maintain complex big data solutions.
- Hands-on experience with the Hadoop ecosystem, including tools like HDFS, Spark, Hive, and Kafka.
- Proficiency in containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, as well as configuration management systems.
- Familiarity with the ELK stack and other big data systems like InfluxDB or Cassandra.
