About the Role

The Device Software Engineer Intern is a part-time position designed for a student looking to gain meaningful experience in a fast-paced startup environment. In this role, you will focus on developing desktop software and integrating third-party hardware with our cloud and client systems. You will be an integral part of our innovation process, contributing to projects that bridge the gap between physical robotics and intelligent software.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate on the design, development, and testing of embedded and desktop software used for system automation, device control, and the acquisition of spectral data.
• Support the implementation and optimization of hardware platforms, including Nvidia Jetson, Raspberry Pi, and Arduino.
• Assist in building and testing APIs to ensure seamless integration and real-time control of optical devices and sensors.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates who are currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, C#, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with hardware-software integration and communication protocols like I2C, SPI, USB, or serial.
• A proactive mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and a keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to thrive within a collaborative, cross-functional team.
• Exposure to cloud platforms, DevOps tools, or computer vision is highly valued.

Location

This role is strictly on-site at our laboratory located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Please note that we do not offer relocation assistance for this internship.
