At HyperSpectral, we are on a mission to transform complex data into clear, actionable insights through the power of advanced machine learning and spectral analysis. We operate at the intersection of software, hardware, and data science, building an AI-powered spectral robotics platform that pushes the boundaries of what is possible in sensing technology. We are looking for a curious and driven student to join our team as a Device Software Engineer Intern, where you will help us bridge the gap between physical hardware and intelligent software systems.
The opportunity
This part-time, on-site role is designed for a student who is eager to dive into the world of embedded systems and device integration. You will work directly alongside our team of engineers and scientists, gaining a deep understanding of how to build and maintain the software that drives our innovative robotics platform. This is an ideal position for someone who wants to see how their code interacts with the physical world, as you will be involved in the full development lifecycle from initial design to final deployment in our laboratory.
A day in the life
- You will assist in designing, developing, and testing the software responsible for controlling our devices, acquiring spectral data, and automating our core systems.
- You will work hands-on with platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and Nvidia Jetson to implement and optimize real-time data collection and system integration.
- You will contribute to our prototyping efforts by interfacing with sensors, motors, and actuators, while also supporting the Python-based workflows we use to visualize and analyze our spectral data.
Who you are
You are a student currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. You possess a strong foundation in programming, with experience in C#, Python, or JavaScript. You are comfortable working with embedded platforms and have a solid grasp of communication protocols like USB, serial, I2C, or SPI. Because we are a fast-moving startup, you are proactive, detail-oriented, and excited to collaborate with a cross-functional team. Please note that this position is based at our laboratory in the United States, and applicants must be U.S. citizens as we are unable to provide visa sponsorship.
Why you'll love it here
We provide a unique environment where you can learn from experienced professionals while contributing to real-world innovations in MedTech and spectral sensing. You will gain practical experience with the full lifecycle of product development, from early-stage design to testing and deployment. Our team is highly collaborative, and we are committed to providing you with the mentorship and professional development opportunities you need to grow your career. You will be working in a dynamic space where your contributions directly support the advancement of our cutting-edge AI-powered technology.
