We are Rescuing Leftover Cuisine, a non-profit organization based in New York City dedicated to fighting food waste. We bridge the gap between businesses with excess food and local agencies like homeless shelters and soup kitchens. With over 1,000,000 pounds of food delivered at the lowest cost per delivery in our industry, we are proud of the impact we have made. We guide our partners through a four-stage process that helps them reduce food waste and lower their operational costs, and we are looking for passionate individuals to join our mission.
What is this role?
We are looking for two Development Interns to join our team on a part-time basis. This position is designed for a student who is eager to gain hands-on experience in the non-profit sector. You will be working on-site in the United States for approximately 20 hours per week. This is a great opportunity to work directly with our founders and potentially transition into a full-time role in the future.
What will you do?
- Reach out to corporate groups to build new partnerships and secure sponsorships for our programs.
- Keep our sponsorship database organized and up to date with accurate details.
- Support our team by coordinating special events and engaging with community members.
What makes you a great fit?
To succeed in this role, you should be a self-starter who is comfortable working independently. We value candidates who can communicate professionally with potential partners through email, phone calls, and in-person meetings. Because our work is fast-paced, you must be skilled at multitasking and prioritizing your daily tasks effectively. Proficiency in English is required to ensure you can represent our organization clearly. We are looking for individuals who are interested in business development, partnerships, and fundraising.
What's in it for you?
While this is an unpaid internship, you will gain invaluable experience working closely with our leadership team. You will have the chance to make a meaningful impact on our community and contribute to a proven model of food rescue. If you are interested in applying for our Spring Internship, please submit your resume. We plan to reach out to candidates for initial phone screenings between late November and early December 2018.
