At Chalk we built a modern machine learning platform from the ground up because existing tools like Spark no longer meet the demands of real-time AI and generative models. Our system lets teams integrate new features, run reliable backtests, and ship production-grade inference without the usual infrastructure headaches. Early customers already rely on Chalk to power mission-critical decisions, and we are growing quickly to serve many more.
The role
We are hiring our first Developer Advocate on a full-time, hybrid basis. This senior position is open to candidates located anywhere and will be central to how developers discover, evaluate, and adopt Chalk’s ML infrastructure.
Core responsibilities
- Create clear documentation, example projects, and use-case content that shows developers exactly how to integrate Chalk into production ML systems.
- Build and nurture an active developer community across online forums, conferences, and technical channels so practitioners can share feedback and best practices.
- Act as a trusted technical contact for current and prospective users, translating real-world requirements into product insights that shape Chalk’s roadmap.
Skills and experience
We look for a software-engineering background paired with a genuine interest in teaching other engineers. You hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science and bring deep, hands-on expertise in AI/ML, MLOps, and large-scale data engineering. You write production-grade Python daily and have worked with Apache Spark, Kafka, dbt, and modern data warehouses. Strong written and verbal communication in English is essential.
Compensation and benefits
The base salary range for this role is $120,000–$220,000. In addition to cash compensation, early team members receive equity and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, commuter benefits, fifteen days of paid time off, fifteen company holidays, daily catered lunch, fully stocked snacks and drinks, and dinner or rides home when you work late.
How to apply
If you are excited to help engineers adopt next-generation ML infrastructure and want to shape both product and community at an early-stage startup, we encourage you to apply. We review applications on a rolling basis and look forward to learning how your experience aligns with this opportunity.
