At Shakepay, we are on a mission to usher in the Bitcoin golden age by reimagining financial services for Canadians. Since 2015, we have built a platform that now serves over one million users, helping them grow their savings and take control of their financial future. We are currently looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. In this role, you will act as the vital bridge between design, product, and engineering, taking complex problems and turning them into intuitive, high-quality digital experiences.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of product features by managing the entire lifecycle from initial problem discovery and design to front-end implementation and final deployment.
- Replace static mockups with functional prototypes to validate ideas quickly and de-risk product decisions through real customer feedback.
- Evolve our design systems and component libraries to ensure that design and code remain perfectly synchronized across our mobile and web platforms.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a hybrid role where you have successfully owned both the design and the technical implementation of real-world products.
- Technical proficiency with modern web and mobile development tools, specifically React Native, TypeScript, and Vue.js.
- A strong builder's portfolio showcasing live products you have designed and built, along with a demonstrated ability to use AI tools to accelerate your workflow.
- Deep understanding of front-end architecture and the ability to design solutions that are performant, scalable, and maintainable.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical trade-offs and design decisions to cross-functional partners.
- A genuine passion for Bitcoin, financial empowerment, and the future of money.
