The opportunity

We are seeking a Design Director to head our Design Management function. In this pivotal role, you will act as the primary design specialist for our division, promoting best practices and driving continuous improvement across all our projects. You will be instrumental in supporting our sales and marketing efforts by contributing to bids and tenders, while ensuring that every project we deliver aligns with our high standards for safety, quality, and schedule. By bridging the gap between design intent and construction reality, you will ensure that our facilities remain at the forefront of the industry.

A day in the life

• You will oversee the development and implementation of key design processes, including managing generic deliverables templates and project schedules.
• You will audit designs to identify discrepancies or missing information, tracking these items to ensure they are resolved without impacting our construction timelines.
• You will collaborate with external design teams and contractors to drive innovation, focusing on low-carbon solutions, modularization, and the integration of advanced technologies like BIM.

Who you are

You are a seasoned professional with at least 15 years of experience in highly serviced buildings, specifically within the data center, research, or academic sectors. You possess a deep understanding of the interplay between mechanical, electrical, and ICT systems. Your background includes a proven track record of delivering large-scale projects, and you are comfortable navigating the complexities of both refurbishment and fit-out processes. You are commercially savvy, capable of managing risk, and skilled at building strong relationships across diverse, cross-cultural teams. Proficiency in English is required, and you should be a proactive communicator who thrives on implementing systems that improve efficiency.
