What you bring
We are seeking a Senior Demand Response Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a unique opportunity to lead a greenfield project where you will architect, build, and own a system that unifies our smart appliances into a virtual power plant to help stabilize the electrical grid. You will work in a hybrid environment based in the United States, utilizing your skills in Go, Python, AWS, and software architecture to create lasting impact. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Researching, defining, and shipping the initial version of our virtual power plant system.
- Developing and scaling complex backend systems using message queues, asynchronous processing, and job scheduling algorithms.
- Taking full ownership of large system components from the initial research phase through to final deployment and customer rollout.
Requirements
The ideal candidate possesses deep experience in building complex backend systems and a strong understanding of distributed architectures. You should be proficient in modern systems programming languages and have hands-on experience deploying software on AWS. Beyond your technical toolkit, we value your curiosity regarding how business requirements influence engineering design. We look for individuals who are collaborative, empathetic, and highly motivated to tackle climate change. You should be comfortable taking ownership of diverse systems and have a team-first mindset that prioritizes the broader goals of the company. Fluency in English is required to ensure effective communication across our growing team.
