Database Reliability Engineer at Wave

We have grown into the largest financial institution in Senegal, and as we expand our reach to more countries, we are looking for a talented Senior Database Reliability Engineer to join our remote team and help us build the infrastructure that powers economic opportunity for millions.

What you bring

As a Senior Database Reliability Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring our database systems remain highly performant, scalable, and reliable as we process millions of daily transactions. This is a full-time, remote position available to candidates located anywhere between UTC -1 and UTC +5. You will focus on the following core responsibilities:

• Designing and maintaining robust database infrastructure, specifically focusing on our Kubernetes-based workloads.
• Enhancing our database observability through advanced metrics, logging, and alerting to ensure system health.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize performance and champion security and compliance across our systems.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have at least seven years of engineering experience and a deep understanding of distributed systems and networking. We are looking for someone with a strong background in managing relational databases at scale, particularly within Kubernetes environments. You should be proficient in Python and possess the ability to debug complex system issues effectively. Ideal candidates are proactive problem solvers who are passionate about our mission, possess excellent communication skills, and are eager to mentor others while continuously learning. Proficiency in English is required for this role.
