We are looking for a Senior Database Reliability Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis. At Justworks, we help businesses grow by simplifying complex HR processes through a data-driven, iterative platform. As a member of our engineering organization, you will play a critical role in managing and scaling our datastores to ensure our systems remain performant, reliable, and secure for our customers.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute strategies for system scalability, identifying opportunities for automation and proactively improving overall infrastructure efficiency.
Manage database-related incidents by performing root cause analysis, implementing long-term resolutions, and actively participating in risk management.
Optimize system performance through database tuning, parameter adjustments, and resource management to ensure high throughput.

Requirements

At least 5 years of professional, hands-on experience working with MySQL and PostgreSQL.
Deep knowledge of database internals, high-availability clusters, replication, sharding, and zero-downtime migration strategies.
Strong technical proficiency in Python, SQL, and Linux shell scripting.
Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure, specifically AWS.
Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Puppet, or Ansible.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

What we offer
