Database Reliability Engineer at Truckstop

We are looking for a dedicated professional to join our Infrastructure Engineering team as a Senior Database Reliability Engineer. In this role, you will help us maintain the high standards of performance and reliability that our customers expect, while working alongside a collaborative group of experts who are deeply committed to collective success.

Key outcomes

• Ensure the continuous availability, performance, and security of our database systems, supporting our services around the clock.
• Apply engineering principles and automation to manage and optimize PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch clusters.
• Build robust observability capabilities to monitor database health and proactively address potential issues.
• Collaborate with software and infrastructure teams to deploy changes, mitigate production incidents, and conduct thorough root cause analyses.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code, specifically utilizing Terraform, to streamline database deployments.
• Provide expert guidance, mentorship, and documentation to support engineering teams and promote best practices across the organization.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure rapid incident resolution and system stability.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of professional experience in the development and maintenance of database systems.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience with system design, data manipulation, and database management systems.
• Proficiency with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including MS SQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Practical experience with infrastructure as code tools, particularly Terraform.
• Strong background working within modern cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
• Experience with Linux and scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and observability tools like NewRelic or cloud-native monitoring services.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $130,000 USD. In addition to the base pay, this role is eligible for a yearly bonus. We also provide the flexibility of remote work to support our team members.
