The opportunity

We are looking for a thoughtful and well-rounded Database Administrator to join our expanding team. As our first dedicated data engineering professional, you will be instrumental in building the foundation of our data architecture. This role is about more than just maintenance. You will design systems that power company-wide decisions and create tools that our customers rely on every single day. You will work in a collaborative, remote-first environment where your expertise will help us refine our engineering practices while we continue to deliver innovative technology.

A day in the life

• You will design and model both relational and non-relational database systems, ensuring that our data remains secure, performant, and scalable as we grow.
• You will dive deep into query optimization and performance tuning to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure our applications run with minimal latency.
• You will collaborate closely with developers and other stakeholders to understand business requirements, lead data migrations, and maintain comprehensive documentation of our infrastructure.

Who you are

You are a seasoned professional who enjoys solving complex problems and mentoring those around you. We are looking for someone who brings the following to our team:

• At least 5 years of software development experience, with 2 or more years specifically in database administration or a similar role focused on managing and optimizing SQL databases, preferably MySQL.
• Practical experience with NoSQL databases like Mongo, Dynamo, or Redis.
• Solid proficiency in cloud infrastructure, including AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• A strong grasp of data governance and security best practices.
• Excellent communication skills in English and French, along with a genuine enthusiasm for remote collaboration and supporting your teammates.
• Bonus points if you hold certifications in database architecture or have experience building full-stack applications using Node.js, React, or TypeScript.
