At Gearset, we have grown from a small team of seven to a thriving organization of over 250 people, and we are just getting started. As a company founded by engineers, we deeply value a culture built on trust, transparency, and collaboration. We provide the leading DevOps platform for Salesforce, helping over 2,000 global companies like IBM, Accenture, and McKesson streamline their development processes. Our team is diverse, bringing together people from all kinds of professional backgrounds, and we pride ourselves on a feedback-driven environment where you are given the autonomy to do your best work without unnecessary bureaucracy.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Data Team Lead to join our engineering organization and shape the future of our data strategy. Gearset has been data-driven since day one, and as our SaaS platform grows, so does the volume of telemetry and customer insights we generate. You will lead our data team through a journey of maturity, moving beyond simple reporting to establishing a company-wide data community. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to build the systems that help us scale, ensuring that every team can confidently use data in their daily workflows to make informed, impactful decisions.
A day in the life
- You will line manage and mentor the data team, supporting their professional growth and helping them achieve their individual development goals.
- You will collaborate with non-technical stakeholders to analyze their requirements, providing the necessary documentation, tooling, and guidance to help them succeed.
- You will apply software engineering best practices to our data platform, including version control, automated testing, and CI/CD, while driving the team's velocity to deliver high-quality solutions.
Who you are
You are an experienced leader who cares deeply about solving the right problems through effective teamwork. You have a strong background as a data analytics engineer, with at least 5 years of experience working with complex data platforms. You possess strong SQL and data modelling skills and have hands-on experience with cloud-based platforms like Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake. You are enthusiastic about using data analysis to drive business decisions and enjoy collaborating with others to prevent silos. While not required, experience with Python, dbt, and DevOps practices is highly valued.
Why you'll love it here
We offer a competitive salary range of £78,000 to £100,000, depending on your experience. We are committed to your growth and well-being, providing a range of benefits to help you thrive:
- Hybrid work environment with flexible hours to support your work-life balance.
- A generous annual learning budget for conferences, courses, and professional development.
- Comprehensive medical insurance, life insurance, and critical illness cover.
- Top-end hardware of your choosing and free office lunches.
- A supportive culture that includes 25 days of holiday, a company pension plan, and wellness benefits like discounted gym memberships.
