Data Scientist at BlaBlaCar

We are looking for two experienced Data Scientists to join our team on a full-time basis in France. At BlaBlaCar, we operate the world’s leading community-based travel app, connecting 27 million members annually across 21 countries. Our diverse team of 800 employees represents over 50 nationalities, and we pride ourselves on a culture that embraces both office-based and remote collaboration. In this role, you will work within our autonomous data squads to build the intelligent systems that keep our marketplace moving.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy machine learning models into production to optimize our core matching algorithms and enhance platform efficiency.
• Develop intelligent automation solutions, including real-time fraud detection, image moderation, and generative AI applications to improve internal operations.
• Create intuitive data products and dashboards that provide actionable insights to business teams, helping to shape our pricing strategies and overall commercial success.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional experience in data or software engineering, specifically with a track record of putting machine learning models into production.
• Strong foundation in machine learning theory, statistics, probabilities, or econometrics.
• Fluency in SQL and Python, with bonus points for experience using machine learning frameworks like scikit-learn, XGBoost, or MLOps tools such as KubeFlow and Vertex AI.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex models to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A pragmatic, business-oriented mindset that allows you to thrive in an agile environment.
• Professional fluency in English.
