At the Democratic National Committee, our technology team serves as the backbone for Democratic campaigns across the country. We are a group of dedicated professionals who believe that data, when used thoughtfully and ethically, can change the course of history. By building predictive models and robust data pipelines, we provide state parties and candidates with the strategic insights they need to reach voters effectively. We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist who is ready to tackle complex demographic and political challenges while working in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
The opportunity
As a key member of our Data Science team, you will serve as a subject matter expert, partnering with product managers, engineers, and analytics experts to sharpen our strategic impact. This role is about more than just writing code. It is about creating foundational guidance that helps Democrats win elections. You will have the chance to influence both the immediate results of the 2026 election cycle and the long-term development of innovative products for the broader progressive ecosystem. Whether you are auditing existing models or building new ones from the ground up, your work will directly empower our users to make data-informed decisions.
A day in the life
- You will audit and refine our existing data science products and pipelines to ensure they remain accurate, efficient, and reliable for our users.
- You will design and build new predictive models for voter outreach, identifying and integrating fresh data sources to improve our overall targeting accuracy.
- You will collaborate across functions with engineers and analysts to deliver high-quality data products, while also fostering a culture of curiosity and kindness within our team.
Who you are
We value diverse perspectives and are looking for someone who is as passionate about our mission as they are about technical excellence. You should be a strong communicator who can translate complex statistical concepts into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Your background likely includes:
- Significant experience in data science or statistics within a business or social science context, including potential experience in electoral politics.
- Proficiency in Python or R, along with strong SQL skills.
- Deep familiarity with predictive modeling, record linkage techniques, and experiment design.
- Experience working in modern cloud data environments, such as BigQuery, and an interest in maintaining high standards for model fairness and transparency.
- Fluency in English.
Why you'll love it here
We are a fully remote team that prioritizes sustainability and clarity. We believe that meaningful work should not come at the cost of your personal well-being. By joining us, you become part of a community that values empathy, curiosity, and the courage to chart a path forward even when faced with ambiguity. We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone has the opportunity to grow and contribute to our shared goal of electing Democrats.
