Data Scientist at NewsBreak

At NewsBreak, we are on a mission to transform how people connect with their local communities. Since our founding in 2015, we have grown into the nation's premier local news app, bridging the gap between local publishers, businesses, and readers. As a Series-C unicorn startup with a presence in Mountain View, New York City, and Seattle, we are looking for a talented Data Scientist to join our team on-site in the United States and help us continue our rapid growth.

What you'll be doing

• You will collaborate with our leadership, product, and engineering teams to examine large, complex data sets to uncover trends and insights that guide our product performance and strategic decision-making.
• You will design and build quantitative and statistical models that turn both structured and unstructured data into clear, actionable information.
• You will conduct deep-dive analyses and present your findings to a variety of audiences, ranging from technical peers to executive stakeholders, ensuring that your recommendations are easy to understand and implement.

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you should have at least three years of experience in data analytics and a strong ability to solve complex problems independently. We are looking for someone who possesses the following qualifications:

• Expertise in SQL and Python for data analysis and statistical modeling.
• A solid grasp of statistical techniques, including hypothesis testing, clustering, and regression analysis.
• The ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership to align on decisions involving complex tradeoffs.
• A high level of proficiency in data analysis and statistical modeling to drive business performance.
• Fluency in English and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll get
