Zoox is pioneering the future of transportation by developing a fully autonomous, ground-up vehicle fleet and the comprehensive ecosystem needed to support it. By operating at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, and advanced design, we are creating the next generation of mobility-as-a-service for urban environments. We invite you to join our internship program, where you will gain hands-on experience with state of the art technology, receive mentorship from industry leaders, and contribute directly to our mission. We are looking for students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine passion for our work.
Key outcomes
- Analyze real-world driving data to identify performance patterns and inform improvements for our autonomous vehicle stack.
- Develop and maintain metrics platforms that track safety-critical events, driving behavior clusters, and fleet performance.
- Collaborate with our Simulation team to build and validate frameworks that evaluate the safety and comfort of our robotaxi.
- Provide data-driven insights that support decision-making processes across our L3 development and production service fleets.
- Conduct in-depth data analysis to translate complex information into actionable domain-specific solutions.
Requirements
- You are currently pursuing a B.S., M.S., Ph.D., or advanced degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- You must be returning to your academic studies following the completion of this internship.
- You maintain good academic standing and have completed at least one previous industry internship, co-op, or relevant project.
- You are available for a 12-week commitment starting in May or June of 2026.
- You are able to relocate to the Bay Area, California or Boston for the duration of the program.
- You possess strong programming skills in Python and proficiency in SQL.
- You have experience with data analysis libraries such as pandas and NumPy, as well as statistical analysis and data visualization.
- You have a solid understanding of experimental design, A/B testing, and data modeling.
- You have experience working with data warehouse platforms and distributed data processing systems.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience working with autonomous vehicle metrics or robotics data.
- Knowledge of causal inference and time-series analysis.
- Familiarity with Databricks, Spark, or other distributed computing tools.
- Experience building dashboards and visualizing complex data sets.
- Academic background or publications related to robotics or autonomous systems.
Compensation
The monthly salary for this position ranges from $5,500 to $9,500, with final compensation determined by your geographic location and level of education. We also provide medical insurance and relocation assistance for eligible interns.
How to apply
We believe that diverse perspectives drive the innovation necessary for our success. If you are excited about the future of autonomous mobility, we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every listed qualification. Please submit your application through our official portal to begin the process.
