Numerade is on a mission to level the playing field in education. Since our launch in 2019, we have helped more than 200 million students build confidence in STEM subjects through the world’s largest STEM video library. We have raised over $26 million in funding and were named one of the top 150 EdTech companies globally by ASU & GSV. Our goal is to become the leading ed-tech learning platform, and we are looking for people who want to help us get there.
The role
We are hiring a Data Scientist Intern on a full-time, remote basis. This position is open to senior-level candidates who can begin immediately and commit to ongoing, year-round work rather than seasonal or break-only schedules.
Core responsibilities
- Solve complex business problems by building or expanding datasets in partnership with engineering teams and turning models into usable data products.
- Generate actionable insights through statistical analysis and data visualization, then communicate findings to product and business stakeholders.
- Design and analyze experiments with product and engineering teams to optimize key business metrics.
Skills and experience
We are looking for candidates who bring advanced proficiency in Python with the Pandas library, strong command of SQL across MySQL, Postgres, and Redshift, and comfort working daily in JupyterLab or Jupyter notebooks. You should demonstrate solid data visualization and presentation skills, along with the ability to perform data wrangling, write queries, and deliver clear insights from large datasets. Familiarity with AWS services such as SageMaker, Lambda, EventBridge, S3, and EC2 is expected. Experience with A/B testing, recommendation systems, NLP methods, or machine-learning techniques such as XGBoost, logistic regression, ARIMA, k-means, neural networks, transformers, or GNNs is a plus. You should hold or be pursuing a degree in data science, business analytics, computer science, statistics, or another quantitative field, and you must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship (CPT/OPT accepted).
Compensation and benefits
We offer the flexibility of remote work so you can contribute from anywhere.
How to apply
If you are excited to apply data science in a fast-paced startup environment and help millions of students succeed, we encourage you to apply. Please submit your application and tell us why this role and mission resonate with you.
