Data Science Manager at Handshake

At Handshake, we connect students, universities, and employers on the largest early-career network in the United States. We are now hiring a Data Science Manager to guide our Product Analytics team and help shape the data strategy behind the experiences that launch careers for millions of students each year.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data scientists while contributing hands-on to high-priority analytics and experimentation projects.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Business Operations leaders to define a long-term vision for Product Analytics and translate that vision into quarterly roadmaps.
• Establish best practices and self-service tooling so product teams can independently handle routine analytics tasks, freeing the data science team to focus on strategic work.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a data scientist or in a closely related function, including time spent in a managerial role.
• Strong command of product analytics, statistical methods such as A/B testing, SQL, and Python.
• Demonstrated success collaborating across Product, Engineering, and other functions at both day-to-day and leadership levels.
• Track record of building long-term strategies, project plans, and hiring roadmaps, along with a genuine commitment to coaching and supporting team members.
• Clear, persuasive communication skills that help translate complex findings into actionable recommendations.

What we offer

We are offering a salary range of $235,000 – $250,000 per year for this full-time role.
