We are looking for an experienced Data Privacy Director to join our leadership team and oversee privacy strategy for our Health and Corporate Markets portfolios. Elsevier is a global leader in information analytics, dedicated to helping healthcare professionals and researchers improve outcomes through trusted data and innovative technology.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on HIPAA, GDPR, and other privacy regulations across our products and services.
- Review and advise on Business Associate Agreements and related compliance documentation.
- Contribute to strategic planning and special initiatives as a member of our privacy leadership team.
- Identify training needs and deliver educational programs to internal teams.
- Ensure all privacy assessments and documentation meet established service level agreements.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders to identify and mitigate data risks.
- Collaborate with our Legal and IT departments to develop and implement robust data protection policies.
- Monitor data collection, storage, and disclosure procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
Must-haves
- Deep expertise in personal data protection and privacy law.
- Proven ability to interpret complex business challenges and recommend industry best practices.
- Experience leading functional teams or large-scale projects.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and explain complex concepts.
- Specific experience applying HIPAA and GDPR in a professional setting.
- Fluency in English.
