Canvas is transforming the world of architecture, remodeling, and interior design through the power of advanced computer vision and AI. By using LiDAR technology on iPads and iPhones, we create precise 3D home models in minutes, turning scans into detailed, editable files. Our technology gained recognition during Apple's keynote, and today we process millions of square feet every month. As an early-stage, virtual-first company with a global team, we are now looking for a leader to help us scale our data operations to the next level.
What is this role?
We are searching for a Data Lead to join us on a full-time, remote basis. This is a senior-level position designed for someone who thrives in a Lead capacity. You will act as a vital member of our Engineering Leadership Team, reporting directly to our VP of Engineering. In this role, you will function as a player-coach, meaning you will balance high-level strategic planning with hands-on technical execution to build a robust data foundation for our growing business.
What will you do?
- Take ownership of our data engineering and analytics strategy, ensuring our infrastructure supports company-wide goals while managing the roadmap and priorities.
- Build and manage a high-performing data team while simultaneously contributing to the design of data models, pipelines, and analytical reporting.
- Partner with cross-functional teams across Product, Engineering, Operations, and Finance to implement modern data practices, including data governance, ELT processes, and self-service analytics.
What makes you a great fit?
You are a seasoned professional with a strong background in both technical engineering and team leadership. To succeed here, you should possess the following:
- Proven experience building and leading data functions within fast-growing startups or high-scale tech environments.
- Deep technical expertise in the modern data stack, including data warehousing, orchestration, and BI tools.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, along with a solid understanding of software engineering practices like git-based workflows.
- Experience with machine learning data pipelines and product analytics.
- Excellent communication skills in English, allowing you to translate complex business needs into technical solutions while mentoring your team.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to drive cultural adoption of data-driven decision-making across the entire organization.
What's in it for you?
Joining our team means becoming part of a global, distributed company that values flexibility and innovation. We offer the following benefit:
- Remote work flexibility, allowing you to contribute from anywhere in the world.
