The role
We are seeking a Junior Data Infrastructure Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This role is perfect for someone with 1 to 3 years of experience who is eager to grow within a collaborative environment. You will work alongside our Platform Engineers to build tools and services that enhance developer productivity, security, and the overall developer experience. Your contributions will directly empower our clinical, product, and machine learning teams to deliver personalized cancer care.
Core responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain the critical data stores and databases, including S3, EFS, and Box, that support our internal products and services.
- Take ownership of our data pipelines to ensure that our machine learning and biostatistics teams have seamless, self-service access to the data they need.
- Develop core infrastructure and automation processes using Python while contributing to a variety of platform engineering projects ranging from quick fixes to long-term system architecture.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should have a solid foundation in data infrastructure and a commitment to data governance. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- Professional experience managing AWS relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Practical knowledge of managing S3 buckets, lifecycle policies, and IAM permissions at scale.
- A proven track record of building and migrating infrastructure automation using Terraform.
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows, containerization, and Kubernetes, with bonus points for expertise in AWS ECS.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, self-starting attitude toward problem-solving.
- A strong sense of integrity when handling sensitive and confidential medical data.
