At Keep, we started with a simple but ambitious question. Why has the banking experience failed to keep pace with the rapid evolution of modern technology? We are currently on a mission to reshape the Canadian fintech landscape by providing businesses with a comprehensive suite of cross-border banking services. From revenue financing and currency conversion to deposit accounts and credit cards, we are building the next generation of financial tools. Our team is composed of global startup veterans with a track record of successful exits, and we are backed by leading venture capitalists in the fintech space as we scale our impact.
The role
We are looking for a Data Engineering Manager to join us on a full-time, remote basis. This is a foundational leadership position for someone with a strong management background who is ready to build our data function from the ground up. You will be the first member of our data team, meaning you will have the autonomy to define our strategy, implement best practices, and scale our infrastructure to support our long-term growth.
Core responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain a robust data infrastructure while utilizing modern tools like DBT, Snowflake, and ETL frameworks.
- Define and track critical underwriting performance metrics, such as default rates and approval times, to optimize our business operations.
- Build the foundation for a high-performing data team by mentoring new hires and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Skills and experience
We are looking for a self-starter who is comfortable navigating the ambiguity of a fast-paced startup environment. To be successful in this role, you should possess the following:
- Proven experience as a Data Manager with a heavy emphasis on technical execution.
- A strong background working within the fintech or startup sectors.
- Hands-on expertise in setting up and scaling data infrastructure from scratch.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, along with deep familiarity with tools such as DBT, Snowflake, Fivetran, and Hightouch.
- Technical mastery of data engineering, specifically regarding the creation and maintenance of complex data pipelines.
Compensation and benefits
We believe in supporting our team members through a flexible work environment. As part of our commitment to our employees, we offer the following:
- Remote work flexibility that allows you to contribute from anywhere.
- The opportunity to work in a fully inclusive culture that prioritizes work-life balance.
- A chance to be in the driver's seat of our growth engine, directly influencing our business strategy and the future of Canadian banking.
How to apply
If you are excited about building a data-driven future and want to help us rewrite the playbook for the fintech industry, we would love to hear from you. Our interview process involves a series of steps designed to ensure alignment, including a people screening, a technical deep dive, interviews with our CTO and CEO, and a practical case study. Please reach out to our team to submit your application and begin the conversation about how you can help us scale.
