What is this role?
We are looking for a Data Engineering Manager to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in Pittsburgh, PA. This is a management-level position that requires a blend of leadership expertise and technical proficiency. You will be expected to guide our data strategy while remaining hands-on with the technology to mentor your team and solve complex problems. Please note that this position may require up to 10% travel and requires U.S. citizenship.
What will you do?
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and professional growth while ensuring high standards for data quality.
- Design and oversee the development of robust data pipelines, data models, and architecture to support our analytics and reporting needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align our engineering efforts with the company's strategic goals and project timelines.

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in data engineering and a proven ability to lead people. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 7 years of experience in a technical data engineering role, including 3 years of people management.
- Proficiency in SQL, stored procedures, and functions, alongside experience with AWS Aurora Postgres or MySQL.
- Hands-on expertise with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Databricks, and Kafka.
- Experience implementing streaming data pipelines and working with various data modeling techniques.
- Strong analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Bonus points if you have experience with Kubernetes, cloud design patterns, and managing large datasets in the terabyte range.
