Data Engineer at Mercari

Role at a glance

This is a full-time, remote position open to candidates located anywhere in the United States. As a Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and operation of our data platforms. You will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, helping us maintain our competitive edge in the marketplace.

Your impact

• Design, build, and maintain high-scale ETL pipelines while automating processes for our data and machine learning products.
• Develop and optimize APIs and technical tools, while creating comprehensive system diagrams and documentation to solve complex data challenges.
• Build and manage our DevOps platform to support continuous integration and continuous deployment for our engineering teams.

What you'll need

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with at least five years of professional experience in data engineering. You should be fluent in English and possess deep technical expertise in the following areas:

• Programming and Scripting: Python and Java.
• Data Infrastructure: Apache Spark, Apache Beam, and advanced Data Modeling.
• Cloud and Containers: Google Cloud, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Machine Learning and APIs: TensorFlow, Keras, and gRPC or REST frameworks.
• Collaboration Tools: Git, Jira, Confluence, and Agile methodologies.
• Database Management: Experience with MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, or SQLServer.
