What you bring
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Energy Tech team on a full-time, hybrid basis in the United Kingdom. You will lead a team responsible for managing the data infrastructure that empowers our energy traders to make critical, high-stakes decisions. Your work will be central to our ability to manage over £1bn in commodity assets effectively.
- Design, build, and maintain robust ETL pipelines and data warehouse solutions to provide high-quality insights.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers while driving best practices in software development, security, and infrastructure.
- Automate data ingestion from diverse sources including BigQuery, APIs, FTP, and Kafka to ensure seamless data flow.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is an expert in data engineering with a strong focus on software quality and observability. You should possess a deep understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and storage layers, along with a proven ability to manage large-scale data products. We require proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language, with Python being our preference. You must have at least two years of experience working with cloud-based data solutions, preferably within GCP. We value candidates who are organized, focused, and possess strong leadership qualities. You should be comfortable working in an agile environment and have experience with CI/CD processes and pair programming. Excellent communication skills in English are essential for this role.
